Kookaburra Books Inc. is an idependently run publishing company founded by brothers, Robert & Matthew Booras. The idea for the company came to fruition with the goal of fostering quality entertainment for children in the form of literature & visual arts.

Although the company name is derived from a native Australian bird, the brothers (both born and raised in Brooklyn), chose Kookaburra Books as their company name & logo after Matthew's wife, Kally, learned about the bird on a trip to Australia, only to return home and constantly refer to her in-laws as, "The Cuckoo Booras-es."

Matthew Booras (author) was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where he still lives today with his wife and two children. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Film & Video Studies and received an M.F.A. in Media Arts Production from the City College of New York. Currently he works as a Film & Television Editor in New York. When he’s not working at his desk or playing with his kids, he can probably be found chomping down on some jalapeño chips.

Angela Cenina (illustrator) received her B.F.A in Illustration at Long Beach State and holds an M.A. in Humanities from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She currently works as a Professor and Registrar for an online university located in Southern California where she lives with her husband and two kids. When not spending time with her family, she enjoys drawing & painting wildlife, and has acquired a professional certification in scientific illustration.
